Rainshadow's Powderhorn Cascade
DPCNA Certified: 1 November 2016 Registered with: DPCNA-140005 & AKC-SR81437604 Born: 15-January-2014 Parents: Esp. Ch. Joksan NABAR the Gloucester CGC X Brookelyn v. 't Wijdseland Health: Eyes: CERF Normal; Elbows: OFA Normal, Hips: OFA Fair Height at withers: 22.5 inches Weight: 56 pounds Exterior: Excellent, classic Clovis build Use: Practical upland hunting, family companion & extreme cuddling Powder is one of the most intelligent Drents I have had the opportunity to work with, so it comes as no surprise she is a very fast learner and was an obedience class superstar. She is also an incredibly athletic and powerful Drent with the confidence to take on insanely rugged terrain and deep cover most dogs balk at. She has experience hunting Pheasant, Hungarian Partridge, Blue Grouse, Valley and Mearns quail. While not the extensive list of her father, this young dog already has over 150 days in the field hunting wild birds. She is cooperative, sticks solid points like a thrown dart and is a reliable finder of downed game, having successfully tracked downed running birds well over fifty yards. Additionally, she retrieves naturally, and has a soft mouth as an added bonus. Typically she averages a 2.5:1 ratio comparing her distance traveled to mine respectively. She ranges consistently between 60 and 80 yards but in open country will tend to punch out a bit further. Moreover, Powder is an amazingly sweet and affectionate Drent and our toddler's best bud. Later this summer we intend to work towards a Therapy Dog certification for Powder. Currently she has an AKC Good Canine Citizen certification. |
Meadowbrook's Munson
DPCNA Certified: 1 December 2016 Registered with: DPCNA-130013 & AKC-SR97024301 Born: 13-May-2013 Parents: Meadowbrook's Baron X Jana v. 't Jaserspad Health: Eyes: CERF Normal; Elbows: OFA Normal, Hips: OFA Fair Height at withers: 23.5 inches Weight: 58 pounds Exterior: Very Good, traditional Nimrod build Use: Dedicated family companion & practical upland hunting While Munson's owners had their hopes on a little girl Drent when Meadowbrook's litter arrived, having Munson in their family has convinced them gender isn't such a big deal. He's gentle, intuitive, playful and intelligent. Not a barker, but can make some noise when he feels he needs to protect his family. Munson has proved to be Instinctively impressive in the field. When he was several months old he was sent to be trained at Taylor Farms Kennels - which specializes in gun dogs. Munson was a quick learner and was used in demonstrations for the kennel after only being there a short time. His owners have used Munson for hunting quail, pheasant, ducks and doves. While he is wonderful in the field, he is also wonderful in the home. He has a great disposition, and is the perfect pet! Munson doesn't get into trouble and respects the boundaries his humans have set e.g. not allowed on furniture or in certain areas of the house. Everybody loves Munson, including a neighbor/friend who doesn't like dogs. He offers to watch Munson anytime, so he has much more than stunningly good looks. His owners feel, having a Drent feels like having the best kept secret and they are so fortunate to have found him. |
What you can expect from this litter: Pups from this litter can be expected to have a very high level of intelligence and a very strong desire to please you. Both parents have good noses for finding game, and a stronger than average instinct to point; range should be short to medium casting between 60 and 80 yards or so. You should expect very typical Drent “pillar” behaviors; highly effective hunters, barking when strangers visit and being first rate family companions. Both of these Drents are extremely biddable with hallmark cooperative sweet personalities and are centerpieces of their households, their pups shouldn't be any different. The CoI for this planned litter is considered to be in the ideal range, and therefore should throw very lovely pups consistent in conformation, temperament and health. Additionally, the selection of parents and pedigrees, this litter could be considered an extension of the prestigious Gloucester line. Both parents are athletic fit Drents able and willing hike and hunt as long as your own legs can hold out.
As a note to those being introduced to the Drent: Physical and emotional maturity of the breed is typically slow and nothing we have experienced here suggests differently. When training, low pressure methods of conditioning should be employed with all Drents to achieve the best results for you and your family. It is fair to have very high expectations for what these pups may achieve, however, those interested in big results from very young dogs need to either adjust expectations from the outset or look elsewhere (read: different breed all together). Having realistic expectations for what a pup is ready for is important, and having patience will pay big dividends to those willing to work with these pups. Without question, you will be richly rewarded with a true canine companion. As with keeping a Drent, having a sense of humor is handy to have on hand, even though both are polite and well behaved, they are after all Drents.
Pedigrees and more information available upon request. We are excited and hope you are too
